Everglades Crayfish Care
Everglades Crayfish
Endemic to the Florida Everglades, this species is highly popular in the aquarium hobby due to their vibrant blue color. Naturally a blue-brown color, the common strain in the aquarium hobby has been bred to achieve the highest vibrancy of blue so that they shine in any aquarium.
Tank Size:
We recommend a minimum of a 10 gallon tank for a single crayfish.
For the best results, a 20L should be used at the minimum.
Tank Mates:
We find that crayfish are best kept in solitude but smaller fast moving fish tend to be safe to keep alongside crayfish.
We have personally seen that keeping many crayfish together in a large enough tank can work if given enough room to claim territory.
Crayfish tend to be territorial and temperamental and should never be housed with any bottom dwelling fish.
We recommend keeping crayfish in a single tank alone, but it is not impossible to house with other fish. BEWARE OF THIS
Diet:
Crayfish are omnivorous creatures and opportunistic scavengers.
Sinking pellets that are of a decent size work best for them.
Ensure you are feeding a high quality food that will keep your crayfish in top shape!
